Thus Have I Heard
Sachen Foundation is launching a new program called “Thus Have I Heard”, which aims to organize and archive the online Dharma teachings of His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Ratna Vajra Rinpoche.
By request of Sachen Foundation, His Holiness has agreed to bestow a series of teachings on “A Garland of Jewels” by Drogön Chögyal Phagpa as our first online Dharma teaching program in 2021. We have coordinated this event with our partner Sakya centers overseas and uploaded these teachings here on the teachable platform and opened these courses free of charge to the public.
A Garland of Jewels is the advice composed by Drogön Chögyal Phagpa to the Mongol prince Gibek Timur, the son of Godan Khan. Chögyal Phagpa said that there is no point in making a material gift to a prince who is extremely wealthy and powerful; instead, he offered a gift of Dharma.
This teaching is divided into three parts: worldly advice, the teachings of Theravada tradition, and the teachings of Mahayana tradition. His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin hopes we can receive the wisdom blessings of the lineage masters through learning on this important book of Dharma.
Following His Holiness's suggestion, before each main lecture, we add the lineage prayers, mandala offering, and the prrayer for requesting the teachings as preliminary prayers. And the main lecture is followed by long life prayers and dedication. You can practice according to your own time availability.
